Why can't I see the triggering or the recurrence in the editor?
Where can I find the widgets?
Open the widget library by clicking on "Add Widgets" in the right sidebar:
Why can't I see all the widgets that are listed in the documentation?
Some of our widgets:
- NPS
- Social Proof
are optional.
You can contact your Key Account Manager or go here: https://www.abtasty.com/book-a-demo/ to have a demo and know more about them.
All the other widgets should be displayed in your widget gallery.
How can I add a widget?
Once you've reached the visual editor, you may need to add a widget. In order to do so, you have to:
- Open the visual editor on the desired website
- Click "Widgets" in the toolbar on the right-hand side
- Browse to a specific section or search by widget name or keywords
- Click on "Add" on the widget's card
- The widget form is displayed
- Defaults are in place but you can override them all
- You must go through/view all tabs in order to be able to save a widget
How can I edit a widget?
Once you've added, customized and saved a widget in a campaign, if you want to edit it, you have to:
- Click on "Active Changes" in the right sidebar
- Click on the widget name
- The widget form is displayed
- You can override the previous configuration
- Click on "Save"
- The widget form hides
In order to know how to precisely configure each widget, please go this section.
For the tracking widgets, you will be able to edit them not by opening the "Active Changes" panel but by opening the "Trackers" Panel.
How can I delete a widget?
If you've added a widget but would like to delete it, you have to:
- Click on "Active Changes" in the toolbar on the right-hand side
- Click on the three vertical dots icon on the widget line
- The contextual menu is displayed
- Click on "Delete"
- A confirmation step is prompted
- Click on "Delete"
For the tracking widgets, you will be able to delete them not by opening the "Active Changes" panel but by opening the "Trackers" Panel.
How can I duplicate a widget?
Let's imagine you would like to have a copy of the widget you just finished to configure, you have to:
- Click on "Active Changes" in the toolbar on the right-hand side
- Click on the three vertical dots icon on the widget line
- The contextual menu is displayed
- Click on "Duplicate"
- The duplicated widget is now available in the "Active Changes" panel and has the exact same name than the original with "(duplicate)" at the end of the name.
For the tracking widgets, you will be able to duplicate them not by opening the "Active Changes" panel but by opening the "Trackers" Panel.
Even if possible, we do not recommend to duplicate Tracking Widgets. To avoid creating conflicts in your campaign report, we recommend adding a single widget in which all your scroll goals will be defined. If you duplicate a tracking widget containing several goals, all its goals are going to be duplicated. Report will become harder to read.
How can I rename a widget?
Most of the time, once you've duplicated a widget, you may need to rename it in order to differentiate it, you have to:
- Click on "Active Changes" in the toolbar on the right-hand side
- Click on the three vertical dots icon on the widget line
- The contextual menu is displayed
- Click on "Rename"
- Change the name
- Press "enter" on your keyboard to save
For the tracking widgets, you will not be able to rename them from "Trackers" Panel. You will have to open them and rename each event/goal. Make sure the selector, percentage or value is according the name in order to have a consistent report.
How can I know if I already added a widget in this variation?
Have a quick look in the "Active Changes" panel in the right sidebar. There you will see all the active widgets of the variation.
In case you don't pay attention and add a widget in a variation/scenario that already contains (at least) one widget of the same type, an alert is displayed.
This doesn’t forbid you to add more than one widget of the same type. It is just in case you forgot.
What are the common restrictions among widgets?
- Inputs: Texts (such as titles or URLs) are limited to 255 characters in length.
- "Link URL" inputs: By default, these inputs are filled in with the domain of the URL you gave at "Main Information" step in the campaign creation flow.
- Textareas: Long texts (such as descriptions) are limited to 10,000 characters in length. You can type HTML code in a textarea. In order to add some bold text or some italic text you use for example:
orThis is regular text. <strong>This text is bold.</strong>
This is regular text. <em>This text is italic.</em>
or any other HTML element.
Is it possible to add emojis? Yes. Here is the way.
- Image uploads: Image formats supported: jpg, png, gif, svg, webp & avif. Max image weight: 2 MB.
- Color pickers: Colors can be defined in hexadecimal on 3, 4, 6 or 8 characters (excluding the "#" character).
- Pipette box "User colors": You can save up to 14 colors in this section. They are saved in local storage and are not shared with other users, even from your own account.
- Multilingual management: Currently, widget don't support multilingual contents. If you want to adapt your widgets to more than one language, you will have create (or duplicate) as many campaigns as necessary.
How can I remove the default styles and/or default content/values on the widget?
We decided to display default styling in order to not give an idea of the visual capabilities of the widgets and to show default texts and values to not let you with a "blank" feeling.
For content:
- Go to "Content" tab
- Select the existing values
- Erase them
- Type/select your owns
- Save changes
For style:
- Go to the "Style" tab
- Uncollapse each group
- Override the default values with your own
- Save changes
Should I use the latest version of a widget?
Yes.
Duplicating old campaigns including previous versions of widgets (and therefore not using the latest one) is possible but not recommended.
In this case, you will see an alert in the widget form header with this message: "This version is not the latest. We recommend you to take the latest version from the widget library."
In order to use the latest version, always add a widget from the widget gallery and configure it from scratch. The latest versions contain the most recent bug fixes, browser changes support, technical stacks support and the coolest features.
How do widget versions work?
Widgets are packages. Each package has a version number.
For example:
"Version 2.5.8"
- 2 is the number of the major version
- 5 is the version of the minor version
- 8 is the number of the patched version
Between two major versions, the widget has been totally rewritten.
Between two minor versions, the widget has received important bug fixes, layout has changed, new components have been added and some have been removed.
Between two patched version, the widget has been quick-fixed or a translation may have changed.
When a patched version is released, all widgets of the same minor version number are automatically replaced by this patched version. Whether the campaign is running or not.
In order to be sure that you are using the latest version of the widget, go to the widget library and add a widget. If there is already a widget in your campaign, go to the widget library and add the same widget. If the two widgets have the same version number, you are using the latest version, if the one you've just added has a higher number, the widget already in place is obsolete. And, you should use the latest version.
Why can't I see the triggering or the recurrence in the editor?
The triggering and recurrence features of the widgets are the only JavaScript code (along with the Account JavaScript code) that is not executed in the editor. You will need to QA the widget properly to "see" the triggering and the recurrence being executed.
