π© Heads up
This feature is only available for early adopter clients at the moment. If you want to be part of this program, please contact product@abtasty.com.
Once you have created your own component template from the Component page of the platform, you can use it directly in the editor of any type of campaign (test, patch or personalization).
You can also directly use the native component templates AB Tasty has created and that are available on all AB Tasty accounts.
βοΈ Adding your component in the visual editor
To use an existing component template in a campaign, go to the visual editor of your campaign, click Add components from the right sidebar, select the desired template and click Add component.
By default, you can see the templates that have been created for all accounts you have access to. You can see those specific to an account by selecting it from the dropdown list.
This action can only be performed if you are an administrator of the account.
Once you have added your component template to your campaign, a left panel (component configurator) is displayed and you can adapt/customize it to match specific needs.
βοΈ Editing your component
The component configurator includes 3 different tabs:
The Form tab
This tab enables you to change CSS parameters (such as a color or a wording) easily by editing specific fields.
These fields have been configured from the Template component set-up page. All pre-set-up fields are available in the form tab.
The Code tab
This tab enables you to retrieve the code that has been configured in the component template and to adapt it. You can change anything you want in the following code areas:
- Javascript
- CSS (e.g. changing a color)
- HTML (e.g. changing a wording)
- Form
The Assets tab
This tab is not available when you open your component configurator for the first time.
You can see the number of assets added to the component template next to the tab.
First, you must save your component in the editor by clicking the Save button on the bottom right, and reopen the component configurator from the history panel on the right of the editor.
Then, you will be able to access the Asset options and add some assets and/ or delete the existing ones.
βοΈ Saving your component
You have 2 possibilities to save your component:
- To use the edited/ customized component in your current campaign only: click Save.
- To use the edited/ customized component in your current campaign AND to save this new version of the component as a new template: click Save as a new template. A new template based on the original template including your latest modifications will be added to the Component template library.
The original component template canβt be overwritten in the editor. This way, live campaigns using this template (on your account or on another account) canβt be compromised.
The component (whether you have modified it or not) will be part of your campaign/ variation and you will find it in the active changes of the variation.
From there, you can still edit, duplicate, or remove the component.
β Good to know
If you need to add several components to a variation, or to other variations/subtests, you wonβt be able to duplicate them. You will have to use the variation duplication option, then do the needed changes in your second variation.
For more information about components, refer to the FAQ.
